Henry was the oldest of Annie Armstrong (Dodd)’s five children – four having been born out of wedlock. His baptism took place in Bellingham on 20 June 1886. He was living with his mother and three siblings in 2 Cruddas Terrace in 1891 and 1901. In 1901 he was working as a farm servant. He enlisted in 1906 and in the 1911 Census was serving with in the 3rd Battalion of the Northumberland Fusiliers with the rank of private. An extensive search shows no record of Henry after 1911.
