James was a lodger with George and Margaret Armstrong in Cruddas Terrace (1 Cruddas Terrace)in 1891. Little is known about him. He was aged 31, a stone mason to trade and was born in Scotland. It is Possible that he is the James Brown, a mason born in Auton, Berwickshire in 1860 who was lodging in 1881 with the Green family at 95½ Almada Street, Hamilton
