He was the son of James an agricultural labourer and his wife, Jane and was born in Wark in 1858. Traditionally the Jamesons were joiners but, Edward, like his father became an agricultural labourer. Adjoining The Riding was the smallholding of George Milburn, a cartwright. George had a large family, one of whom was seventeen year old (in 1881) Annie Milburn. Edward and Annie were married in Bellingham in the first quarter of 1883. Their son, James Jameson was born in Bellingham in 1883/4 but daughter, Frances Jameson was born in Thockrington in 1887 where her father was working as a shepherd at Hill Head in 1891. In 1901 Edward was a forty-two year old hind on Catcleugh Farm, Frances hadn’t moved with her parents but James was working as a cartman. Ten years later Edward, Annie and Frances were in West View, Bellingham with Edward describing his employment as farm labourer. By Annie’s death in the first quarter of 1913, Edward was left as a widower and at some stage moved with daughter, Frances to 4, Cruddas Terrace. Edward died aged 78 in the third quarter of 1936.
