Elizabeth lived in Cruddas Terrace (6 Cruddas Terrace) with her father, Michael Maughan in 1881 where she was acting as housekeeper to her father and four sisters. She was born in 1859 in Corsenside where her father was landlord of the Bay Horse Inn in Woodburn in 1861. In 1871 she was living in the household of her grandfather, Forest Maughan at the Eals, Bellingham. (Her grandfather was Registrar of Births and Deaths and had been born in 1799). After her mention in the 1881 Census the trail goes cold. There is no record for marriage or in the 1891 Census although there is the registration of the death of an Elizabeth Maughan in Bellingham in the first quarter of 1892.
