Florence Priscilla Todd (Florry) was the wife of William Dixon Hixon Todd and lived with him in Cruddas Terrace in 1901. She was much younger than her husband having been born in Springwell, Gateshead on 19 May 1880. She was the daughter of William Tindall, a beerhouse keeper and his wife Isabella. Although her husband was initially a cartman it is possible that he moved to County Durham to become a joiner in a colliery. He died in 1926. In 1939, widow Florence was living with her older sister at the Hawthorns, Washington. She died at that address on 5 December 1955 leaving an estate worth £705. An ‘In Memorial’ notice in the Evening Chronicle of 5 June 1912 says, “In loving memory of our dear father, William Tindall, who died May 6th 1889, also our dear mother, Isabella, who died June 5th 1909. Ever remembered by their loving daughters, Lizzie and Florry Todd”.
