	The John Clark living in [[Cruddas Terrace]] ([[9 Cruddas Terrace]]) in 1901 is probably John Forrest Clark(e). John F Clark was born on 23 February 1864. He was the son of William, a surveyor of highways and Ann. In 1871 he was a scholar and the family were living at Lanehead. By 1881 he had moved to Tarset Hall where he was a single indoors farm servant working for Thomas Thompson a farmer of 1100 acres. Still single in 1891 he was a coachman, groom, domestic and farm servant employed at the Murray Arms, Otterburn. He married Sybella Waugh from Canonbie in the mid-1890s and moved into Cruddas Terrace where he was a general labourer. They had one child, Annie (born 1895) whose birth was registered in Morpeth. Sybella died in the 4th quarter of 1903. In 1908 John remarried. His new wife was Mary Elizabeth Jackson, 14 years his junior. Mary was the daughter of James, a shepherd, and Elizabeth. She had been born in Haltwhistle on 17 July 1878 but in 1891 was living at Buteland Building and in 1901 was a general domestic servant in the service of the Robson family at Snabdough. In 1911 John and Mary were living at West Reenes, Bellingham where John was a farm labourer. Their son, William John Clark was aged 2. A daughter, Mary E Clark was born in 1911. John was working for E R Thompson at Dunterley in 1921 as a horseman. In 1939 the family was living in Esp Hill Lodge, Haydon Bridge. John was a retired horseman; also living with John and Mary were their children – William John, a horseman and Mary E who was undertaking unpaid house duties, both were unmarried. Mary’s death is recorded in the 4th quarter of 1940 and John’s in the first quarter of 1949, both in West Northumberland.
