	~~Son~~ of a shepherd/stockman from Coquetdale whilst mother grew up, and was in service at High Leam, Hareshaw, Catcleugh and Buteland. ~~Ron~~ grew up at Elrington, just outside Haydon Bridge. He was educated at Shaftoe Trust Primary School and Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, Hexham. He read Agriculture at Cambridge University. Rob was head of Agricultural Science at a public school in Hampshire, then Deputy Head (Further Education and Youth Service) at Bellingham County Secondary School (1969 – 73), this involved organising evening classes and youth clubs throughout the North Tyne and Redesdale. He became an adviser in Further Education in Angus and subsequently adviser and deputy director of education, responsible for further education colleges, special employment measures and careers with Tayside Regional Council. ~~Ron~~ took early retirement and moved back to Northumberland and now lives in Frankham, Fourstones. 	Rob was invited to help out at the Heritage Centre by a former teaching colleague (Ken Gaskin). He undertook to produce the first newsletters. 			Rob produced the Names Database for the Heritage Centre and has continued to keep this data set up to date. He is an avid researcher and is currently working on this WIKI, being the author of many articles, helping with the research into streets and people of Bellingham and helping to document and research the graffiti on the original parcel shed door.
