It is assumed that the writing underneath refers to Mrs. Tweddle (nee Florence May Davison) 1889-1970 who married John Hawarden Tweddle, master plumber and mason, in July-September 1917. He was shortly afterwards sent to France as a sapper and was killed on 26th August 1918. His widow duly received his medals but sent them back as "not desired". We cannot find her in the 1921 census and, apart from a few adverts in guides and newspapers, she next appears widowed in the 1939 register as a schoolteacher. | |||
