Methodist United Reformed Church
The Methodist United Reformed Church (known locally as "The MURC", pronounced [mɜ:k], like the English word murk) was originally a Methodist foundation, but has shared the building with the United Reformed Church for some years. The United Reformed Church resulted from the union of the Presbyterian Church in England and the Congregational Church in England and Wales in 1972. The Presbyterian Chapel was on the northern side of the junction of Fairshaw Crescent and the B6320, with the manse being next door to the north. Both are now in private hands.
