Clegg, Donald
Donald Clegg (Don Clegg) was born at Rochester in Redesdale in 1931/32. After Grammar school he worked as a postman delivering mail on foot to farms around the area. He worked on farms in Redesdale, completed his military service, and returned to farm work in the North Tyne before training as a teacher at St John’s College in York. He taught at Bellingham and Wooler where he became involved in Outdoor Education. He continued this special interest at the Wauchope Field Study and Expedition Centre near Bonchester Bridge, and then at Carrshield in West Allendale. He is now retired living initially at Yarrow near Falstone where he indulges his passion for all things Northumbrian, playing the Northumbrian pipes and befriending red squirrels, then at Bellingham. Art work in the book "Daft Laddies" is by Don Clegg.
