Tilly, John (or Tilley, John)

John Tilly (or Tilley) was born in Bellingham in about 1837 and died in Morpeth in 1879. He was the son of Edward Tilley (Tilly?), an agricultural labourer and Mary Tilley (Tilly?) of Old Man Shield. He married Frances Currey in Bellingham in October 1866. They were living at 9 Cruddas Terrace in 1871 where John was a labourer. They had at least five children – Edward Tilly 1868 – 1878, William Yellowley Tilly 1870 – 1909, Thomas Joseph Tilly died 1871, John Tilly died 1874 and Ellen Tilly died 1877. The surviving children William, Thomas, John and Ellen, were adopted by William and Harriet Leggat of Bedlington.
