Todd, William Dixon Hixon
William, the son of William Todd and Mary Todd lived in Cruddas Terrace, Bellingham in 1881 (1 Cruddas Terrace), 1891 and 1901. He was born in Ridsdale on 26 April 1870. At the 1891 Census he was described as a cartman and ten years later he was a cartman on his own account. In the fourth quarter of 1900 he married Florence Priscilla Margery Tindall in Chester-le-Street. His history after Bellingham isn’t clear. Some sources suggest that he moved to Usworth to become a joiner at a colliery (It may be significant that his father was a joiner and cartwright but it would be quite a step from being a self-employed cartman ten years previously at the age of 30) The death of Wiliam H D Todd was recorded in Chester-le-Street in the first quarter of 1926.
